Biography and current catalogue for
Margaret Mitchell (Mrs Brian Lascelles) DA (born c.1940)
Born in Edinburgh, Maggie Mitchell was evacuated to Bermuda during the Second World War. Returning after the War, she studied art, first at Dartington Hall Art Centre in Devon, followed by three years at Edinburgh College of Art. After her first marriage, she completed her diploma at Dundee College of Art. She settled in Angus, later moving to Glenfarg, in Perthshire.
Her delicately worked and colourful landscapes are recognised more by the general public than by the academic establishment and most of her exhibitions have been in Edinburgh and Perthshire, with successful shows at the Pitlochry Festival and at the Calton Gallery in 1984.
