Adrian Keith Graham Hill (1895-1977) 

Adrian Keith Graham Hill (1895-1977) was born in Charlton, London. He was a British artist, author, and educator; he published many books and initiated art therapy. During World War One he served with the Honourable Artillery Company and he was commissioned by the Imperial War Museum to record the war through soldier’s eyes. He was one of the first official war artists. br /> After the war he took up painting professionally and taught at Hornsey School of Art and Westminster School of Art. He himself had studied art at the St John’s Wood School and Royal College of Art. He is mainly known for his impressionistic and surrealistic style, but also his more conventional representations. He has exhibited worldwide, and was represented at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists and the Paris Salon among many others. br /> After falling ill with Tuberculosis in 1938 he found relief and healing in art and introduced the idea of art therapy for patients, and in particular to injured soldiers returning from the war. He later wrote several books on the topic and became the president of the British Association of Art Therapists. In his later life he focused more on his career as an author and presentator.
