Eugene Dekkert (1865-1956)
Dutch or German born East Neuk of Fife painter in oils and watercolours of landscapes and coastal scenes in the manner of the Hague School.
He lived in Glasgow from 1899-1903, before moving to St Monance on the Fife coast. In his watercolours, he employed thin, often dull-coloured washes in a somewhat coarse manner. His oils were more successful and were also clearly influenced by the Hague School.
He exhibited in Scotland, from 1899 until 1940, at The Royal Scottish Academy (12 works), The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (3) The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (26) and the Aberdeen Art Society (4)
